At Ease as a rug
A while ago the wonderful weaver Lisi Charwat asked me to meet. She had heard my first solo album and the piece “At Ease” touched her so much that she felt inspired to weave a note-for-note visualization of it.
So, we spent a few hours at my piano. I played the piece to her, we analyzed the melody, harmonies, the rhythm and structure and she invented a code system that helped her translate the music into visual patterns. Recently she finished the 3.2m x 0.7m At Ease-Rug!
I love when different artistic practices intertwine and open up another dimension of perception. It is an absolutely unique experience to actually see, touch and walk over my own piece.
If you want to learn more about how Lisi created the rug, I recommend to follow her here on instagram.
